More Community Leaders Join SEVACF Board of Directors

We held our year-end Board meeting this past December, during which three new Directors were elected to the Board! Please join us in welcoming them:

  • Michelle Butler: Having joined TowneBank back in 2006, Michelle is now Senior Vice President of Private Banking at the bank’s Churchland location. She is a Chesapeake native and a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Marketing Research. Before joining Towne, Michelle was a Vice President of Premier Banking at Bank of America where she gained 14 years of experience in the industry. She is an active volunteer and has held Board positions with Volunteer Hampton Roads, Western Branch Athletic Club, and Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community. Currently, she is on the Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia’s Portsmouth Unit.
  • Stephen Korving: Stephen is currently the President, Managing Partner, and Co-Founder of Korving & Company, LLC, where he works with individuals and businesses to help them manage their wealth. Having received a Business degree with concentrations in Finance and Risk Management from Virginia Tech, he previously put his knowledge to use at several different companies, including UBS and Cambridge Associates. Right now, Stephen is a member of the LEAD Hampton Roads Signature Class and is a Board Member for the Portsmouth Museums Foundation. In the past, he has served in volunteer positions with PARC, Inc., Kiwanis Club of Churchland, and Noblemen of Norfolk.
  • Carolyn Bernard: With over four decades of education-related work experience, Carolyn is now retired and living in Chesapeake. Prior to her retirement she earned a Bachelor’s in Social Studies from East Carolina University, a Master’s in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University, and a Education Specialist Degree from George Washington University. During her professional life, she served in several different educational roles in the Chesapeake Public School System, with her latest position being Principal of Grassfield High School. She now holds volunteer positions with the Chesapeake Sports Club, Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, and Virginia Foundation of Educational Leadership to name a few.

At the meeting, we also held elections for Officers, resulting in Timothy Culpepper as President, Daniel Grubb as Vice Presient, William Oast as Vice President, Emily Robbins as Treasurer, and Richard Wentz as Secretary.
